This is one of the oldest form of online marketing available. It is very effective, yet affordable. Compared to paid per click advertising and your effort on search engine optimization, email marketing may not cost you a single cent.
Essentially, there are 2 types of email marketing:

Unsolicited bulk email marketing essentially means that you are sending emails to unqualified recipients. Put it simply, you are spamming Internet users who are not familiar with your services at all. This practice is very controversial and your business reputation will be at stake. If you intend to really build a brandname online, we advise that you can leave out this option.
Opt-in Direct Email is a commonly accepted Internet marketing solution. Here, your recipient is aware that he/she has subscribed to your mailing list. They can be site visitors who have approved to receiving commercial emails from you when they visited your site. Or they can be registered users at your site. As the Internet grows rapidly, this method is very useful to remind visitors that "Your site exist", and they have visited your site before.
A successful email marketing campaign depends largely on how you communicate with your recipients.
a) Subject Line - Be clear and concise. We do not recommend that you use deceptive languages
b) Content Body - Not too long or too short. Your message can be in HTML or plain text. We do not recommend using excessive images as this can slow down the download of messages.
c) Option to unsubscribe - It is always a good practice to respect your recipients by providing the option to unsubsribe with a link at the bottom "Click here to unsubscribe".
